Four of five Millwall coaches test positive for Covid-19 a day before trip to Preston
Four out of Millwall’s five first-team coaches have tested positive for Covid-19 so they have all had to isolate.
The Lions will be without their entire first-team coaching staff for their next two Championship matches after two more positive Covid-19 tests at the club.
Under-23 coach Kevin Nugent and player-coach Shaun Williams will take charge of tomorrow’s match at Preston and Saturday’s match against Huddersfield.
But manager Gary Rowett will be back at training on Monday to take charge for Tuesday’s match game at Norwich.
Rowett – who shares a flat with technical coach Joe Carnall – tested positive last Friday and the Lions have now confirmed two more members of the five-strong coaching team have tested positive for coronavirus this week.
Millwall have confirmed that, in the interest of health and safety, all senior coaching personnel will now self-isolate for 10 days.
Millwall have not confirmed the names of the two coaches who are the latest to test positive.
The other members of the coaching staff are assistant manager Adam Barrett, who was in the hotseat for the 1-1 home draw with Barnsley on Saturday; performance coach Dave Carolan and goalkeeping coach Lee Turner.
