Croydon care home staff stunned by mass delivery from beauty retailer Superdrug
Croydon care home staff are ‘shocked and heartened’ thanks to a mass delivery of presents from a leading high street beauty retailer, Superdrug.
Whitgift House in South Croydon was nominated by Superdrug as their chosen worthy cause to receive an array of gifts including beauty, bathing, showering and healthcare products as well as sweet treats.
The gifts will ensure that each of the home’s 36 residents, some receiving end of life care, will get a stocking full of the items to open on Christmas Day.
Staff were stunned by the sheer volume of beauty products, chocolates and treats that were delivered, filling the home’s reception area.
The care home have said the donation could not have come at a better time for the home following a difficult year for staff and residents alike, and with limited visiting taking place over the festive period to ensure residents’ health and safety.
Joe Patterson, home manager of Whitgift House, said: “From all of us at Whitgift House, I’d like to say a massive thank you to Superdrug.
“We have all been rather shocked but hugely heartened by the generosity of so many products donated for our residents.
“Although Christmas will not be the same for them this year, the gifts will definitely make a difference and put a smile on our residents’ faces on Christmas Day.”
