Crystal Palace’s James McArthur: Only way we can make amends for 7-0 thrashing by Liverpool is to beat Aston Villa

James McArthur believes that the only way his Crystal Palace team-mates can make up for their 7-0 thrashing by Liverpool is to beat Aston Villa on Boxing Day.
The Eagles suffered their worst-ever top-flight defeat against the league leaders. A particularly disastrous second-half performance helped the Reds add to their 3-0 half-time lead with a further four goals.
And Palace midfielder McArthur says only three points against Villa will make amends. The Villans beat Liverpool 7-2 earlier this season.
“We need to get back to winning ways. That’s the only way we can make amends for such a bad result,” McArthur told Premier League Productions.
“In this league, it does it to you. This has been one of those seasons where there have been some incredible results – Liverpool conceded seven goals in one game (a 7-2 defeat against Aston Villa) and then they go and score seven against us. Manchester United have conceded six (against Tottenham).
“It’s been one of those seasons where there have been crazy results, but we need to look back at that game and make sure it never happens again.
“We need to look forward and make sure we get the next three points because, at the end of the day, it’s the opportunity of three points that we’ve lost.”
