Man charged with Wimbledon murder

A man has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing in Merton.

Police were called by by paramedics shortly before 1am on Wednesday, January 13 following reports of an assault at an address on The Broadway, Wimbledon.

Officers found Paul Dalton, 41, who had been stabbed.  Despite the efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene an hour later.

Mongo Bolili, 33, of Merton has been charged with Mr Dalton’s murder.

A second man, Ian Matu, 26, of Merton, has been charged with perverting the course of justice.

They are both due to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Friday January 15.

A 53 year old man who was also arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail to a date in early February.

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

Detectives from Met’s Specialist Crime Command (Homicide) are investigating.
