By Rafi Mauro-Benady

Police are appealing for witnesses following two shootings, believed to be linked, within 24 hours of each other in one of the capital’s wealthiest districts.

Notting Hill, which is home to celebrities such as Robbie Williams and Richard Branson, has seen two firearms discharged this weekend.

The first attack happened in Cornwall Crescent, W11, just after 10pm on Friday, January 15.

The second shooting happened at a residential address at around 10.05pm on Saturday, January 16, in Ladbroke Grove, W10.

The gun blast damaged part of the property.

It is thought that both guns were fired from mopeds.

Detectives retain an open mind as to the motive behind them.

Twitter user @JoBoronte said: “Just outside where I used to live and go to school. So different now.”

There was also a stabbing in the area this weekend, the details of which are unknown.

The investigation is being led by detectives from Trident (the unit tackling gun crime) supported by local officers from the Central West Basic Command Unit.

Following the violence, a Section 60 (which allows police to stop and search anyone in a certain area) was ordered by Inspector Streeter, starting 8pm tonight (January 17), until 5am tomorrow (January 18).

No one was injured in either incident, and no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information should to call Detective Sergeant Rob Jones from Trident on 07775 110 482, call 101 or tweet @MetCC and quote ‘Op Gorslase’.

Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
