Lewisham police officer who allegedly assaulted his partner is back at work and cleared of gross misconduct
A police officer has been cleared of gross misconduct for allegedly assaulting his partner.
PC Ben Cowen, of Lewisham, faced a public hearing yesterday, Monday April 9, to answer allegations that his conduct amounted to a breach of the standards of professional behaviour in respect of discreditable conduct.
On July 14 2016, it was alleged that PC Cowen assaulted his partner at his home address and shouted at him that he was going to kill him while off duty.
On October 19 2016, PC Cowen was convicted of assault in relation to this incident at Bexley Magistrates’ Court.
But the ruling was successfully appealed on January 6 2017 at Woolwich Crown Court.
The panel concluded that gross misconduct was not proven.
The officer will now resume full duties.
