Former Charlton winger reacts after Brentford promoted to Premier League

South London-born Tariqe Fosu says he’s proud of what he’s achieved after being promoted to the Premier League with Brentford.

The former Charlton winger was promoted to the top flight of English football after the Bees beat Swansea City 2-0 at Wembley Stadium in the Championship play-off final.

The 25-year-old made 57 appearances for the Addicks and scored 11 goals between 2017-2019.

“It’s been a long and hard season, but I’m proud of the boys, everyone played a part and this is massive especially for the fans,” Fosu told the club’s website

“To be in the Premier League next season is like a dream come true.

“We expected [the game] to be tight, but getting two goals in the first half made it comfortable and it went our way after that.

“I feel great to be part of a special team, we’ve worked hard for this, especially after last season. We’ve shown great character to bounce back.

“I’m proud of how far I’ve come, League One to Premier League in the space of just over 12 months.

“It’s so good to be part of this group, that is so special.”
