London Eye goes pink for walkers
The London Eye is turning pink to support a cancer charity’s event.
At midnight on Saturday, May 12, thousands of women and men wearing brightly decorated bras will walk either a Half Moon (13.1 + 2 miles), or Full Moon (26.2 miles) through the streets of London to raise money and awareness for breast cancer charity Walk the Walk.
Both routes start at Clapham Common and make their way past many of London’s most historic and recognisable sights. General Manager for the Coca-Cola London Eye, Sunny Jouhal, said: “We are looking forward to supporting The MoonWalk London by turning the London Eye pink in support of this fantastic cause.
“We hope that the lights will give all the participants a boost on their long walk.”
Walk the Walk founder Nina Barough said: This iconic landmark will be lighting up Walk the Walk pink on the night of The MoonWalk London, in honour of all our MoonWalkers.
“They will be passing the London Eye and will catch sight of it several times as they walk around London, a reminder of just how fantastic they are and giving each and every one of them a massive pink hug of encouragement.”
Walk the Walk has raised more than £122million since 1996, with the money funding research into breast cancer and to help improve the lives of those living with cancer now.
It is hoped that this year’s event will raise £6million.
