Search for killer after man stabbed to death in Elephant and Castle
A 23-year-old man was stabbed to death last night, reportedly inside a restaurant.
Witnesses have described how a man wearing a motorcycle helmet burst into the restaurant in Hampton Street, Elephant and Castle, at around 7.45pm last night before attacking his victim.
A tent has been put up around the Rincon Costeno Ecuadorian restaurant, it has been reported.
It was reported that a friend of the victim told the MyLondon website that he had been “given the restaurant” by his parents and named him as a man called Ian.
Police are now appealing for information.
They were called, along with medics from the London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance.
A statement from the Met said: “Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, a 23-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“His next of kin have been informed. Formal identification has not taken place.
“A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
“Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are investigating and would like to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has information about what took place, should call 101 giving the reference 6908/14DEC. Information can also be provided to Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.
