Ormiston Latimer Academy rated ‘Good’, writes Ofsted inspectors

A secondary school has once again been rated “good” by Ofsted following its last inspection.

Ormiston Latimer Academy in Freston Road, Latimer Road was commended for creating an environment that students enjoy being part of, where they feel “well cared for”, listened to, and are supported to “learn well”.

During the latest inspection on November 9-10, inspectors were impressed by the “high expectations” that staff hold for students, and the way that students are “well supported to move onto their next stage”.

The report lists the exceptional hard work of staff, students and the wider community, indicating the academy’s commitment to building an environment where students can flourish and be inspired by their learning.

At the beginning of the academic year, the academy entered a new chapter as part of Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT), and this report is the first it has received as part of the OAT family.

Everol Halliburton, principal at Ormiston Latimer Academy said: “I’m so proud of our staff and students at the academy, who have all come together to achieve this result.

“It was especially nice to hear how much our students enjoy coming to the academy, and that they are well supported to take their next steps when they leave.

“At   Ormiston   Latimer   Academy, we work to ensure our students enjoy their time with us, are equipped with the skills they need and inspired for their futures, and it’s great that has been recognised by Ofsted.

“There are always ways we can improve further, and we’re eager to continue to build on the progress we’ve made so far.

“We’re very grateful for the support we’ve received from both our wider community and Ormiston   Academies Trust, who play a pivotal part in our success.”
