Health and wellbeing bus to offer support to Bexley residents

Bexley residents can get free advice on health and wellbeing over the next few months from a newly-launched bus.

Bexley’s Health and Wellbeing bus will be stationed at various locations and at community events around the borough over the next few months.

Residents can speak to a well-being ambassador and get tips to keep their minds and bodies active.

They can also find out about the free support available to help with weight management and mental health, take a no symptoms Covid-19 test and get advice on vaccines.

Dr Clive Anggiansah of the Lyndhurst Medical Centre, and who is also Bexley’s GP clinical lead, said: “During the winter, it is more important than ever that people in Bexley can easily get information not only about vaccines for Covid-19 and flu, but how to keep well during the colder months more generally.

“The roving health and wellbeing bus is an important part of our efforts to make sure people can get the right information.”

A Bexley wellbeing week will run from January 17 to 23 with representatives from voluntary organisations on the bus to talk about different ways to improve mental and physical wellbeing.

The bus will be at the Clocktower on Bexleyheath Broadway from January 17 to 21 and 24 and at Cygnet Square in Thamesmead on January 22.

From January 25 to 28 it will be at Belvedere Baptist Church on Nuxley Road.

“This is a real partnership effort to improve access to key health services for residents near their homes,” said Councillor Teresa O’Neill OBE, Leader of the London Borough of Bexley.

“We want to make sure we reach all of our community and to help them stay happy, healthy and well.”
