Giant Trump baby blimp makes an appearance in South-east London

The Trump baby blimp made a stop in South-east London after the American President’s visit to the UK.

Rockers were confronted by a giant inflatable Trump blimp as they stepped out of North Greenwich station to see American grunge band Pearl Jam last week.

Council leader Danny Thorpe took to Twitter on Tuesday, July 17 to thank Pearl Jam and The O2 for bringing the Trump Blimp to Greenwich.

He said: “So, while I can confirm that our motion to ban President Trump from Greenwich was a big success, I’m delighted to officially welcome Baby Trump to Greenwich.”

Greenwich council put forward a motion barring Trump from visiting the borough in two separate council meetings.

The motion was first brought by Shooters Hill ward councillor Chris Kirby in a full council meeting in December.

Cllr Kirby said: “President Trump has regularly expressed abhorrent and aggressive views and, in doing so, has enabled the spread of division and hatred.

“As a council we hold responsibility for more than 270,000 residents.

We took the view that we could not stand by and watch the level of public debate be poisoned by the rhetoric that the President and others like him have continued to use.

“We have stood up and made our position clear: there is no place for aggressive, bigoted and hateful rhetoric in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.”

The 20ft Trump Baby was first released on July 13 as tens of thousands of people marched through Westminster against the President’s visit.
