Man rushed to major trauma centre after gunshots in Brixton

The Met Police have launched an investigation after a man was shot in Brixton on Sunday morning.

Lambeth Police confirmed an incident took place in Stockwell Road at 3.20am.

A spokesman said a man was taken to hospital after being wounded and is receiving treatment. His injuries were not deemed life-threatening.

Officers closed a section of the road as part of their investigation.

A number of bullet casings were seen around Benedict Road, according eye witnesses and a black Mercedes is also said to have had a window broken.

London Ambulance Service confirmed  it despatched an ambulance crew, a paramedic, a tactical response unit and a medic in a fast response car.

“We treated a person at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre as a priority,” a spokesman said.

Police said anyone with information is asked to call 101 and quote ref 882/27nov or contact @CrimestoppersUK.
