Dons boss delighted with clean sheet run as another shutout recorded at Swindon Town

AFC Wimbledon boss Johnnie Jackson was delighted that his side extended their League Two clean sheet run to five matches in a row following their 0-0 draw with play-off hopefuls Swindon Town.

Both sides recorded 12 shots at the County Ground yesterday, but Jackson’s side tested Swindon keeper Sol Brynn six times.

The point moved the Dons just three points behind the League Two play-off places.

Wimbledon are eight unbeaten in the fourth tier.

“I’m really pleased with that,” said Jackson of Wimbledon’s clean sheet run. “We’re looking like a really solid outfit at the minute – we’re hard to beat and score against.

“It’s a tough place to come. Swindon are a good team and pose lots of threats. To nullify them and restrict them to a handful of chances is pleasing.

“It’s a good point and another clean sheet. We had the better of the first half. We had some really good moments where we countered off a really good shape. We broke on them and had some really good chances to get that goal in the first half.

“In the second half, we have not created enough. They had more possession and have probably been in our half more than we have been in their half.

“It was a tight game between two good teams who nullified each other at times.”

Brentford loanee Nathan Young-Coombes returned to the matchday squad after suffering a knee injury in the 2-0 defeat to Northampton Town on September 13.

“He hasn’t had a bundle of training,” said Jackson when asked if there was any temptation to throw the 19-year-old on as the Dons searched for a winner.

“If we were behind and chasing a goal, perhaps you turn to him. But we made the change with Kyle [Hudlin] to change the game.

“Coombsy is back with us – we’re really delighted with that. We have got another game on Tuesday and they are going to come thick and fast in December. There will be opportunities for everyone to get game time.”
