‘Good chance’ Huddersfield set to recall loanee as Dons boss targets attacking reinforcements in January

AFC Wimbledon boss Johnnie Jackson says there is a “good chance” that Kyle Hudlin will be returning to Huddersfield Town in this January transfer window.

The Championship side have a recall clause in Hudlin’s season-long loan deal.

Jackson also confirmed he would like to add attacking additions to his squad during this January window.

Hudlin, 22, has started twice in League Two under Jackson. But he did score a double in the recent defeat to League One side Plymouth in the EFL Trophy.

The forward played the full 90 minutes of Wimbledon’s 2-1 defeat at Sutton United on New Year’s Day. 

When asked if he wanted to add to his attacking options in the January transfer window, which opened today, Jackson said: “I would like to.

“It’s somewhere we definitely need to strengthen. Huddersfield have a recall option on Kyle Hudlin. There is a good chance that we will lose him as well. We will be really light in numbers in the attacking department.

“We have a regular dialogue with them [Huddersfiled]. It’s something that they’re monitoring. It’s their call.  It has to be within the first week or so of January, so we should know pretty soon.

“He has forced his way into the team in the last few weeks. We will have to wait and see what happens with that one.

“I have got a lot of good, experienced defensive cover there, but we are lacking attacking options.

“There is no getting away from that. Especially if we lose a couple of bodies, we are very light.

“Today, it has affected my starting 11 and it affects the way you can impact the game as well.”
