Patrick Vieira provides early injury update on Wilfried Zaha after Crystal Palace’s goalless draw with Newcastle
Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira has provided an early injury update on Wilfried Zaha.
The Palace winger was forced off in the 64th minute at Selhurst Park after receiving treatment on what appeared to be a hamstring injury.
French forward Jean-Philippe Mateta replaced the Ivorian, with Jordan Ayew moving out to the left-hand side.
Zaha is into the final six months of his contract with the South Londoners and is able to leave on a free transfer at the end of June.
The 30-year-old has featured in every Premier League outing this season. It was his 450th appearance for the Eagles.

“We will have to wait until Monday to really find out the nature of the injury,” said Vieira. “It looked like a hamstring injury.”
This was Palace’s third goalless draw with Newcastle this season, with the reverse Premier League fixture at St James’ Park also ending in a stalemate. The two sides drew 0-0 in the third round of the EFL Cup – Newcastle advancing after penalties.
Newcastle were comfortably in the top four of the Premier League coming into this fixture today.
“When you spend millions, you move faster with where you want to be,” said Vieira of Newcastle’s league position. “Of course, they’re doing really well and have a strong team. That’s why I’m really pleased that we managed to get a point.
“They’re competing with the top three or four. The way that they build the team is to be in the Champions League.
“I’m really pleased with what we showed today and the point we took today.”
