‘It wasn’t good enough’ – Johnnie Jackson bemoans AFC Wimbledon’s first-half performance in Doncaster defeat

AFC Wimbledon boss Johnnie Jackson was disappointed with his side’s first-half performance in their 2-1 defeat at Doncaster on Saturday.

The Dons took the lead in the 18th minute when Josh Davison’s shot from inside the area rolled through the palms of Jonathan Mitchell.

Doncaster then equalised nine minutes later through Harrison Biggins after he met Charlie Seaman’s cross at the back post.

Danny Schofield’s side then took the lead five minutes later when George Miller turned a free-kick routine beyond Nik Tzanev.

The defeat extended the South Londoners’ winless run to eight League Two games.

“It’s really difficult to take,” Jackson told the club’s YouTube channel.

“We were the dominant team in the second half. I thought we were off our levels in the first half.

“There were a few stern words at half time and I thought we came out a different team in the second half.

“We were on the front foot and really energetic – we pretty much peppered their goal for long parts of that half.

“I’m not going to sugarcoat the first half – it wasn’t good enough. We looked like a really good team in the second half.

“We took the game to them and created a lot of good chances, which we failed to put away.

“None more so that one right at the end there which sums up our luck at the minute on this little run.”
