Patrick Vieira answers question on potential pressure from the Crystal Palace hierarchy

Patrick Vieira insists he feels no extra pressure from the Crystal Palace hierarchy despite his side’s poor run of form.

The French World Cup winner added he is also in daily communication with chairman Steve Parish and sporting director Dougie Freedman.

The Eagles are the only side in the Premier League without a win in 2023 and are just three points above the relegation zone heading to arch-rivals Brighton & Hove Albion tomorrow.

Palace became the first team since records began – the 2003/04 season – to fail to register a shot on target in three consecutive Premier League outings after their 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday.

Vieira’s side head to the Emirates to take on league leaders Arsenal after Wednesday’s trip to The Amex.

When asked if he was feeling added pressure from Parish and the Palace board about the club’s current position, Vieira said: “No, because I know the reality of the game.

“You can see the table and the fact that we don’t win games. We went through this period last year, and we were sure about what we wanted to achieve and how we wanted to play the game.

“We reinforced those messages. Of course, this is a tough period for us, but that’s why it’s important to remain calm and composed – to really concentrate on how we can improve those details that allow us to win games.

“I am talking every day with Dougie and the chairman. We’re talking about the team and the players no more or less [than usual].”
