European loan move in pipeline for Crystal Palace keeper
A club competing in European football next season are keen on signing Crystal Palace’s young goalkeeper Joe Whitworth on loan.
The South London Press understands a number of clubs from Europe and the Football League have asked about a season-long loan.
It is thought that Whitworth’s exceptional distribution has been a real attraction with clubs abroad, most notably in the Netherlands and Belgium.
As clubs return to pre-season, interest is expected to ramp up with Palace and the player reviewing all options.
Whitworth made his Premier League debut for the Eagles last season – becoming the club’s youngster goalkeeper in the top flight – in the 1-0 defeat at Brighton in March.
The 19-year-old was required to step up with both Vicente Guaita and Sam Johnstone missing through injury. He started the following game away at then league-leaders Arsenal.
Keeper Whitworth penned his first professional deal with the Eagles in 2021 and signed a five-year contract extension in January.
