Former Crystal Palace midfielder retires from football
Former Crystal Palace midfielder Andre Moritz has retired from professional football.
The Brazilian playmaker joined the Eagles in 2012 under Dougie Freedman as a free agent after leaving Turkish side Mersin İdman Yurdu.
Moritz made 32 appearances during his time at Selhurst Park, scoring five goals and picking up three assists.
He left the South Londoners after they won promotion to the Premier League following a 1-0 win over Watford at Wembley in the Championship play-off final in 2013.
Moritz has also had spells at Bolton, Mumbai City, Hougang United and Pohang Steelers.
Thank you football. Today I officially retire from it.
Wrote a letter which is on my Instagram, who ever feels interested.
God bless you all! Thank you ❤️🙏🏼 pic.twitter.com/y43O1QG1wH— Andre Moritz (@andremoritz10) July 5, 2023
Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish Tweeted: “Congratulations Andre on a fantastic career, thank you for your superb contribution to @cpfc and good luck for whatever the future holds.”
