Was the Manchester United win one of Roy Hodgson’s favourite as Crystal Palace boss?

Roy Hodgson is hoping that his favourite results as Crystal Palace boss are yet to come after Saturday afternoon’s 1-0 win at Manchester United in the Premier League.

The Eagles claimed all three points – bouncing back from their third round EFL Cup defeat on Tuesday night at Old Trafford – thanks to Joachim Andersen’s strike in the first half.

Hodgson became the first manager ever to go five unbeaten at Old Trafford thanks to the win.

Michael Olise, Dean Henderson, Matheus Franca, Jefferson Lerma, Odsonne Edouard, Nathan Ferguson and Naouirou Ahamada were all missing for the South Londoners.

“I’m hoping the favourite ones are to come,” Hodgson said, when asked if the 1-0 victory was one of his favourites during his two spells in charge of the Eagles.

“You have to be very careful looking back and saying: ‘This is my favourite result.’ It’s my favourite one for the moment – that’s for certain.

“Maybe one day in a few years time when I have nothing to do with football anymore, you might ask me: ‘What was your favourite result?’

“You might remind me of this one and I might agree with you. At the moment I’m just happy for the day, happy with the performance and really happy for the players.

“To some extent, I’m a little bit cowed at the thought we have Nottingham Forest coming next weekend at Selhurst Park.

“That will be a tough game as well and somehow we have to get the players back into this way of thinking and believing, just not saving it for Old Trafford or somewhere else of that ilk.”
