Update: Fire brigade issues fire safety advice following blaze in Kensington flat

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) has recommended that people check for hidden hazards in their home after a flat fire yesterday afternoon.

Eight fire engines and about 60 firefighters were called to the blaze in Holland Road, Kensington at around 1.50pm.

A basement flat within a five-storey terraced building was partially damaged by fire. There were no reports of any injuries, the LFB said.

The fire was under control by around 3.30pm. Crews from Hammersmith, Kensington, Chelsea and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Following the incident, a spokeswoman from the LFB said: “Firefighters recommend that you have a look at our online Home Fire Safety Checker to make sure there are no hidden hazards in your home.

“The online tool will ask you a series of questions that will help us work out the level of risk in your home, or the home of someone you care for.

“It only takes a few minutes to get tailored advice to keep yourself and loved ones safe from fire.”
