Woman killed, another critical after car collides with National Express coach in Battersea
Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision that has left a woman dead and another critically injured.
Police were called at around 4.30am yesterday to reports of a grey VW Polo in collision with a National Express coach in Queenstown Road, Battersea.
Police officers, London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade attended the scene. Both vehicles caught alight.
A passenger in the car, a 26-year-old woman, died shortly after 5am. Police believe they know her identity and next of kin have been informed, but formal identification awaits.
The woman driver of the vehicle was taken to a South London hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
Enquiries into the circumstances continue.
The collision is being investigated by the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Merton Traffic Garage.
