Croydon comedian gets golden buzzer on Britain’s Got Talent from Alesha Dixon

A Croydon comedian who proudly makes jokes about reactions to his Muslim religion has won through to the next round of Britain’s Got Talent.

Nabil Abdulrashid, a 34 year old comedian made so Alesha Dixon laugh so much she pressed the golden buzzer which took him straight through to the next round.

The humble father of two, a graduate of St Mary’s University, Twickenham, had said he might have to give up his career if he did not have any success.

He already had a track record. In 2010, at the age of 22, he became the youngest black comedian to perform stand-up at the Hammersmith Apollo.

He also won the “Which Religion Is Funniest?” competition, judged by David Baddiel and Omid Djalili.

Abdul Rashid suffers from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. He campaigns against knife and gun crime.
