MovementWorks dance group in Brockley receives grant to continue online sessions
A dance group has won a grant to continue online sessions for isolated people during lockdown.
MovementWorks, based in Adelaide Avenue, Brockley, will get cash from the Arts Council, England, Covid-19 Emergency Response Fund.
MovementWorks put on regular online sessions during lockdown, based on Autism Movement Therapy, Developmental Dance Movement and various Yoga sessions.
It was concerned some individuals might be isolated and would expand its sessions over the coming months for SEN and vulnerable children and adults across the country along with their neurotypical peers and provide an inclusive range of classes for all.
“We are delighted to have won this grant that allows us to continue our work with vulnerable children and adults during this difficult time.
“Thanks to the Arts Council we can continue the special series of online classes,” said Ali Golding, founder and managing director of MovementWorks.
In response to the Covid-19 crisis, the Arts Council made £160 million of emergency funding available for individuals and organisations who needed support. Nearly 90 per cent of this funding was provided by the National Lottery.
