Dillon Phillips jokes that team-mate Darren Pratley needs to lay off the drink after midfielder claims stopper is the Championship’s best

Charlton stopper Dillon Phillips reckons that Darren Pratley needs to go easy on the liquid refreshments after his team-mate said that he was the Championship’s best goalkeeper.
Midfielder Pratley made the claim after last weekend’s 1-0 win over QPR saw Phillips bag his second clean sheet in as many games – a run that stretched to three after the goalless draw with Cardiff City in midweek preserved the Addicks unbeaten start to life back from the coronavirus-enforced break.
“I said to [Pratley] earlier on in the week that he must have had a few drinks after the game!” joked Phillips after the stalemate in South Wales.
“It’s nice to hear. He’s obviously played with some top-quality keepers. It’s lovely when part of your team feels safe with you behind them, it was nice.
“A very good point [at Cardiff]. They’ve had two wins as well. I was saying to the lads before that I don’t think any team will win three games in a row in this league, so I thought we might get a draw today. That’s more than enough for us. We’re happy with how we’ve started and hopefully we can keep it going.”
The South Londoners have taken seven points from a possible nine to climb clear of the bottom three since the return to action – although fellow strugglers such as Barnsley and Wigan have also found some form since the restart.
Phillips said: “[The form of other sides is] out of our control, that, so let’s just keep trying to win every game. We’re trying to pick up points every game. If we pick up points across the next six games, every game, then we’ll stay up.
“We’re out of [the relegation zone] at the moment, so we just need to pick up more than the teams below us. Everyone down there is fighting. Obviously, there are some teams that aren’t playing for anything, so, maybe that’s why teams are picking up more points. But [at Cardiff], against a team that fighting for the play-offs, that’s a very good point.”
