Personal trainer from Chelsea wins £1,000 grant to help him keep online fans fit

A personal trainer has won a £1,000 grant to keep workers at home from getting too flabby.

Lucozade gave Callum Jackson the money as he could not run his usual classes but is hosting online classes on its media channels.

Callum, who runs a studio in FitSpace in Chelsea, said: “I was honestly so grateful to Lucozade Sport for firstly giving me the opportunity to share some exercises that might help people get through lockdown, but secondly for the fund which was a huge help to me considering as a personal trainer the number of sessions I was delivering was reduced significantly.”

Callum, pictured above, has been training clients through Zoom and FaceTime.

He said: “Naturally we took a bit of a hit when we had to close. Luckily a lot of my clients have continued their training online and I have been amazed at how well it has worked and the progress all of my clients have made without access to a gym.

“I have found lots of people have been reaching out for tips and advice on the next ways to work out at home during lockdown and it has been very rewarding to be able to offer some solutions, especially through the help of Lucozade Sport.

“A lot of my training is focused on improving the mobility and stability of my clients and I chose to focus on this in the Lucozade Sport workout. Mobility and staying mobile is particularly important during lockdown as we find ourselves spending a lot of time sitting down on our laptops or phones.

“This can create postural problems in our thoracic spines and hip flexors in particular, so it is even more important to stay mobile and active during these times.

“I have found personally that training has been so good for my mental state during lockdown.

“With so much going on in the world at the moment I find that 45-60 minutes of exercise per day is essential in boosting my mood and taking my mind away from anything negative, and I know the same can be said for all of my clients.

Also being in lockdown naturally means we are moving less so it even more essential to keep ourselves moving both for our mental and physical wellbeing.”
