Former Met PC would have been kicked out of the force for drink-driving had he not already resigned, misconduct hearing learns

A former Metropolitan Police officer would have been kicked out of the force had he not already left after he admitted drink-driving.

A misconduct hearing was held against former PC Antony Pearce, who was attached to the Central South Command Unit, which covers Southwark and Lambeth, until he resigned on January 25 this year.

The hearing was told that Pearce was alleged to have breached the standards of professional behaviour in relation to discreditable conduct.

On July 20 last year the former PC was arrested for drink-driving – an offence he pleaded guilty to on August 7 last year at Hastings Magistrates’ Court.

Pearce was convicted of an offence of driving a motor vehicle whilst exceeding the prescribed limit of alcohol, fined £390, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £50, and disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 20 months.

And on Friday, the matter was proven at a gross misconduct hearing, where it was decided that had Pearce remained a serving officer he would have been dismissed.
