Dean Edmunds, 36, of South East London, was sentenced on Friday, 21 May at Croydon Crown Court after he pleaded guilty to sex offences against children as well as the production of extreme pornographic images involving an animal.

‘Compulsive liar’ who targeted sex workers sentenced to almost two decades in prison

A 25-year-old ‘compulsive liar’ who targeted sex workers has been sentenced to almost two decades in prison. Sajad Jamalvatan, of Mulberry Close, Beaufort Street in Chelsea, was convicted of five counts of rape against two female sex workers between August and October 2019. He has been sentenced to 19 years imprisonment and five years on license.

Children’s hospital unveils plans for a new building that will provide over 100 extra beds

A Lambeth children’s hospital has unveiled plans for a new children’s hospital building but are still awaiting Council approval. Evelina London Children’s Hospital have been submitted plans for an expansion to Lambeth Council for approval. The new building, which will take around six years to deliver, will be joined to the existing, award-winning children’s hospital which opened in 2005.

The Met reinvests criminal funds into newborn police puppies after ‘record year’ of cash seizures

The Metropolitan Police Service is reinvesting criminal funds into cash detection puppies after a record year of cash seizures. The 2020/21 financial year was a record year for the Met’s Proactive Money Laundering Teams, who recovered £14.4m,  and made 116 arrests. The Met are reinvesting the funds into operations to tackle violent crime, including ‘cash detection’ spaniel puppies who are trained to help officers discover hidden cash.

Met officer charged with death by dangerous driving almost five years after death of ten-year-old

A Met officer has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving almost five years after a 10-year-old boy and his aunt were struck by a stolen car that was being pursued by police. The Crown Prosecution Service charged PC Edward Welch with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and dangerous driving.
