Former pro-footballer jailed for 10 years for rape after cornering victim in the women’s toilets

A former professional footballer has been jailed for 10 years after he raped a woman in a London bar. Alhaji Sesay, 22, of Congleton Grove, Greenwich appeared at Bristol Crown Court today where he was sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment for the attempted rape of a woman in a Bristol nightclub and the rape and attempted rape of woman at a north London bar.

Lib Dems blast Southwark Council for ‘unacceptable’ 0.1 per cent drop in recycling rates

Southwark’s Liberal Democrats have blasted the council’s record on recycling following the release of waste figures from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). The latest Government figures, covering between April 2019 and March 2020, show that the borough’s recycling rates went down by 0.1 per cent, which the opposition has labelled “unacceptable” in light of the climate emergency.

Young people’s mental health reaching a ‘crunch point’ in London due to Covid-19 pandemic

Young people’s mental health is reaching a “crunch point” in London during the Covid-19 pandemic, according to a new report from the London Assembly. A survey of more than 300 young people aged 16 to 25 found that almost 30 per cent had felt down, depressed or hopeless or had experienced feelings of anxiety nearly every day for the two weeks prior to taking the survey.
