Croydon Council controversial hotel and land sell off branded an ‘absolute disgrace’

Council plans to sell off the controversial Croydon Park Hotel and the town centre College Green site have been branded an “absolute disgrace” as the authority is unlikely to recoup the costs of the Fairfield Halls refurbishment. The College Green site is set to be sold for at least £20 million, and the Croydon Park Hotel is listed for another £20 million.

Mayor of London accused of being “out of touch” over Ultra-Low Emission Zone comments

Sadiq Khan has been accused of “patronising” Londoners and being “out of touch” after suggesting people could buy a second-hand car to avoid the ULEZ charge. With the Ultra-Low Emission Zone set to be expanded in October this year, the Mayor of London yesterday told the Evening Standard that Londoners could “buy a second-hand vehicle” if they wanted to avoid the £12.50 charge.
