A river’s fish population has been
affected by pollution from a storm drain. The River Pool in Sydenham, had a flood of green liquid pouring into it on Monday, with passers-by seeing scores of dead fish washed up on its banks.
The protest is taking place in Moremead Road, Lewisham, where three lorries arrived at 7:30am on September 14 to fell the oaks., with an official from Lewisham Council, which in June 2021 issued the order to cut the trees down following a subsidence claim made in 2017.

A man who was extradited from Pakistan has been charged in connection with the murder of Naziat Khan in Streatham in August 2001. Zafar Iqbal, 61, was extradited from Pakistan on Tuesday, 14 September. After arriving in the UK he was taken to a west London police station where he was later charged with murder.

An NHS midwife who downloaded and shared hundreds of indecent images of children has been sentenced. Scott Butler, 39, was found to have more than 400 indecent images of male and female children between the ages of four and 13. Butler, of Broxholm Road, West Norwood, was sentenced to 12 months’ in custody suspended for 18 months at Inner London Crown Court on Monday.
