Belt out the classics at free sing-along cinema nights in Waterloo
Lower Marsh Lates will return this summer with classic sing-along films, live music and entertainment beneath the glow of an iconic ‘Waterloo Sunset’.
Organised by the Waterloo Business Improvement District (BID), this free event series invites visitors to pull up a deck chair, tuck into special deals from bars and eateries and belt out the lyrics to cult film soundtracks in one of the city’s most historic and eclectic neighbourhoods.
Running on the last Thursday of the month, films include Mamma Mia, Dirty Dancing and Grease.
Kate Poulter, chief executive at WeAreWaterloo BID said: “Summer brings a special vibe to Lower Marsh when people are out enjoying the sunshine on Waterloo’s historic market street.
“The Lates events bring local workers, visitors and residents together through the magic of movies and music – all while supporting our amazing independent business community in the space.”
Before each screening, Lower Marsh will come alive with a high-energy mix of live music and performance courtesy of compere, Hannah Maxwell. Expect themed theatrical twists, roaming performers, and interactive moments to warm up vocal cords.
From Dancing Queen to Hungry Eyes, visitors are encouraged to dress in theme with each film – with prizes awarded to the best-dressed participants – and sing their hearts out on this historic market street.
Lower Marsh is known for its independent food scene, and Lower Marsh Lates will feature exclusive deals from market traders and local businesses.
Whether reliving the magic of a favourite film or introducing it to a friend or colleague, Lower Marsh Lates promises a feel-good evening of nostalgia, food, and fun.
