Canadian band, Le Vent du Nord performs at Blackheath Halls on May 20

Canadian band, Le Vent du Nord have become acclaimed musicians for their mix of politics and traditional folk.

The quintet speak English but their music, traditional and self composed, is sung in French.

After 21 years and 1,800 shows, they are accustomed performers and experts of the violin, squeeze-boxes, bass, keyboard, foot percussion and bouzouki.

The group are heroes of Quebec’s progressive folk movement, racking up several awards, including a Grand Prix du Disque Charles Cros, two Junos (Canada’s Grammys), a Félix at ADISQ, a Canadian Folk Music Award, and Artist of the Year at the North American Folk Alliance Annual Gala.

Now, celebrating their 20th anniversary with a UK tour this month, Le Vent du Nord will be performing at Blackheath Halls in Lee Road, Blackheath on May 20.

They return to perform at the Lexington, Pentonville Road, Islington on July 31.
