Film-maker wins prize to make film about Brixton Soup Kitchen
A writer and film-maker has won £35,000 to make a film about Brixton Soup Kitchen.
Oneikeh Campbell won the top prize at the Pitch Film Fund Awards, awarding her the cash and support to make her movie idea into a reality.
The story follows a homeless woman who once lived a luxury lifestyle as a food critic but finds herself unemployed living in a hostel with strangers.
The film, called Five Thousand Stars, is loosely based on the parable of Jesus feeding the 5,000.
Ms Campbell said: “Right now is the time to talk about food; we live in a developed country yet there is so much need with 40,000 children without food. This story is about the homeless community and demonstrates how working together we are stronger.”
