Love is Live – the Platinum Edition cabaret at Longfield Hall
Lambeth based Longfield Hall Trust has been awarded £7,100 from the Arts Council’s Let’s Create Jubilee Fund by London Community Foundation – ensuring that creativity plays an important role in community celebrations for The Queen’s Platinum jubilee.
The Let’s Create Jubilee Fund will ensure that thousands of people from communities all across England will have the opportunity to take part in exciting creative events – all in celebration of the jubilee.
From puppetry and story creation, through to making crowns, carnival and art trails, there will be a huge range of activities for people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved in.
Longfield Hall Trust’s funding will allow see a LGBTQ cabaret event on June 24.
Taking its name from the Pride motto Love is Love the cabaret is called Love is Live – the Platinum Edition.
The drag queen, Lily Snatchdragon will host the evening, with Dance Pi.

There will also be a month of workshops produced with professional mentors including: Natasha Vasandani (actor, writer, director and producer).
Natasha founded Grey Beanie Productions which produces diverse stories from diverse voices such as Angela De Castro who is a leading theatre practitioner, actor, theatre clown, teacher, director and speaker; Alex Lutley – Pi the Mime and their considerably more verbal doppelganger Mercury Presents are internationally recognised, award-winning cabaret creations; Grace Kelly Miller – actor, drag and cabaret artist.
The workshops are aimed at people aged 21+ from the LGBTQ community and will aim to develop skills in cabaret performance.
Laura Harling, artistic director at Longfied Hall at 50 Knatchbull Road, Brixton, said: “We are so excited to be able to deliver our Love is Live project.
“The funding from ACE will enable our local community to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s jubilee while offering our South London LGBT+ community an opportunity to develop new skills in performance and to celebrate together at our Love is Live Platinum Edition cabaret on June24.
“We have a world class-line up of cabaret artists and facilitators ready to deliver exceptional workshops, culminating in our cabaret night at the end of June”.
