Visual arts exhibition opening in Crystal Palace
A new art exhibition centring on visual artists is opening today (Friday 10th September), writes Davina Hyde.
Organised by Tom Cox, a 36 year old artist and curator from South London, the exhibition of paintings, prints, photography and ceramics will take place at his gallery in Crystal Palace.
Made in Palace is celebrating a number of artists’ talent who live and work in the area, including world-renowned portraits of Mr Cenz and the minimalist ceramic work of Maria Sripha.
Mr Cox has curated 15 exhibitions across London and one in Sao Paulo.
His latest work engages with the rough and rugged peaks of the high alpine mountains he has climbed over the last 15 years, and features removed solitary figures that search vast and vibrant landscapes.
Ms Sripha worked in the fashion industry as a designer for more than 20 years and has had a curiosity for sculpture and ceramics.
She said: “I started working with clay as a creative extension to my fashion and art background and had a desire to devote my interests in geology and the natural components of stone to a new skill.
“There is a magical energy, released from working with clay which I find completely fascinating and therapeutic.”
The exhibition is on until October 3 at Tom Cox Gallery, 38 Church Road, SE19 2ET
