Wearing pink and baking cakes, all in aid of cancer charity in Mitcham

A care agency has supported a breast cancer fundraising event by providing cakes and wearing pink.

The live-in care agency, Bluebird Care Merton, supported the “Wear It Pink” day on October 23 to help raise money for life saving breast cancer research.

Based in Mitcham, the agency has ten office staff and around fifty “out on the field” care assistants.

The Wear it Pink day is one of the biggest fundraising events in the UK, run by Breast Cancer Now and Breast Cancer Care. Every year in the UK about 55,000 women and 370 men are diagnosed with breast cancer.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. It occurs mainly in older women but can also affect men.

One in seven women develops breast cancer and around 11,500 women will die from it.

Bluebird Care specialises in working with people who live with dementia, physical disabilities and many other chronic conditions.

They work with their customers’ families, the NHS and social services, to provide care tailored to their individual needs.
