Hit play about racism and stereotypes starring Richard Blackwood goes online
A hit stage play exploring racism and stereotypes of black masculinity is being shown online for the first time from February 24.
Typical, produced by Soho Theatre and Nouveau Riche, follows the true-life story of black British ex-serviceman Christopher Alder and the injustice he has faced.
Playwright Ryan Calais Cameron was inspired to write this story following his own experiences of everyday racism.
He said: “Typical is the story of a black man, who in the comfort of his home is just a man, but as he leaves, he must navigate through society’s ideas and prejudices about what it means to be black. Typical is a slice of our history, that I hope gives insight, education and desire for a better future.”
The play stars Hollyoaks actor Richard Blackwood and is available on Soho Theatre On Demand.
