11-year-old Lewisham schoolgirl thanks donors for helping beat fundraising target

An 11-year-old Lewisham schoolgirl has thanked donors in a video message after almost doubling her original fundraising target to help disabled children in her community.

Fodun Olanrewaju, who is a year six student at St Matthew Academy in Blackheath, has raised £380 for her local NHS trust.

Fodun was inspired to raise the funds for her community after learning about the struggles that many disabled children face, particularly during the current coronavirus pandemic.

With the help of her parents, Fodun set up a GoFundMe page to raise money in aid of the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust charitable fund and was blown away by the support she received.

Fodun said: “I am extremely thankful for you all for supporting me in my charity campaign.

“Thank you all for helping me reach and pass my target, I hope to share more charity work in the future.”

Olanrewaju Sharafa, Fodun’s father said: “We are very proud of her, she cares a lot about other people and finds joy in making positive contributions.

“All of Fodun’s friends and family are so happy and proud of her. I feel touched that she is continuously willing to make an impact in the community.”
