Around 40 firefighters and six fire engines have today responded to calls of an inferno at a block of flats.
The fire started in a flat on the fifth floor of an eight-storey block in Hammersmith Grove, Hammersmith.
Crews from Chiswick, Fulham, North Kensington and Lambeth fire stations tackled the blaze, and one woman was taken to hospital by ambulance suffering with shock.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called at 1.20pm earlier today, and the fire was under control by 2.16pm.
The LFB control room received 17 calls about the fire.
Station Commander, Dan Johnson, who was at the scene said: “Firefighters were faced with a very well developed fire on arrival.
“The smoke was very visible from the outside of the building and resulted in our Control Officers taking 17 calls to the blaze.
“Crews worked hard to tackle the fire and contained it to the affected flat.”
Twitter user @LizzieNewell_x saw the plumes of smoke from her flat.
She said: “Hope everyone’s OK. Big fire near Goldhawk Road Station. We can see flames and smoke from our balcony on Shepherds Bush Road.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
