40-year-old man in critical condition after being hit by a car in Croydon

Police are looking for witnesses after a car hit a pedestrian.

At around 6.30pm on Sunday, January 23, police were called to a collision on Gravel Hill in Croydon.

A pedestrian, who was 40 years old, was hit by a Volvo V40.

He was taken to a hospital in South London and his condition is described as critical.

The driver stopped at the scene and has not been arrested.

A Met Police spokesman said: “Officers were called at around 6.30pm on Sunday, January 23, to a car in collision with a pedestrian on Gravel Hill in Croydon.

“The pedestrian, a 40-year-old man, was taken by the London Ambulance Service to a south London hospital. His condition is described as critical.

“The driver of the car – a Volvo V40 – stopped at the scene. The driver was not arrested and is assisting police.

“Detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating.”

Any witnesses are asked to call police on 101 quoting reference CAD 5240/23Jan.
