Arrest made in Brixton attack that killed rapper and Deliveroo driver

The Met have arrested a man on suspicion of the murder of rapper Lemar Urqhart, who was shot dead after he killed a passing Deliveroo driver in a car chase.

A 19-year-old man was arrested late on Wednesday evening. He remains in custody.

Mr Urqhart, aged 27, and Guilherme Messias Da Silva, aged 23, both died in Railton Road on October 30, 2022.

Detectives believe two cars were driving in the Railton Road area when one of the cars was in collision with Guilherme’s moped before further colliding with parked vehicles.

Lemar then got out of one of the cars involved in the collision and was pursued by a man, armed with a firearm, from the second car.

The man shot Lemar and returned to his car before leaving the scene.

Police were called at around 7.50pm to reports of gunshots heard in the Railton Road area.

Guilherme and Lemar were found injured at the location and despite the efforts of emergency services, they were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter in November 2022. He was bailed to return pending further enquiries and has since been told that no further action will be taken.
