Bank staff raise cash for kids at Evelina Children’s Hospital in Lambeth
Bank staff are used to paying out interest, but they’ve managed to raise £860 for something far more interesting.
Employees of Santander brought in the cash for Evelina Children’s Hospital in Lambeth by selling raffle tickets for prize draws of hampers, cakes and gift vouchers.
Zehra Mercan, Stephanie Rasit and Lynda Thomas, who all work for Santander’s South-east London region, and Evelina fundraising leader Nathan Ramsden toured the area asking for donations.
Zehra said: “We would like to say a big thank you to all of the following in making this event successful: the staff, patients and people passing by for their contributions to the raffle; Santander staff and family members and Santander Bank PLC for their match funding which doubled the amount we raised.
“Thanks to all our local businesses for their generous donations and gift vouchers as without this, the event would not have been possible: Rose & Matt from Morrisons in Peckham – a donation of £100; Thaya from the Co-op in Dulwich £25; Carlos from Nandos in Bromley £40 and the manageress from Molton & Brown in Bromley Glades £30.
“It is always greater to give back in life.”
The funds will go towards lifesaving research, facilities and the latest medical equipment for Evelina Children’s Hospital Appeal which is part of the Guys & St Thomas’ Trust.
