Bostall House hospital in Bexley given “good” rating by watchdog
A hospital which cares for adults with learning difficulties in Abbey Wood has been given an “outstanding” rating for its caring by a watchdog.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) report into Cygnet Health Care’s Bostall House, which rated the service overall as “good,” praised staff for the “collaborative manner” of people-focused care, noting that they worked with patients, families and carers “to develop individual care and support plans” that were “personalised and holistic”.
The CQC went on to commend staff for supporting people to understand their needs and ensuring that individuals felt safe, as well as a strong track record on safeguarding and safety.
In a 20-page report, the regulator commented that staff treated people with kindness and “a great deal of empathy”, and praised the team at Bostall House for their commitment to continually improving the quality of the service.
The CQC also recognised staff for working well as a multidisciplinary team, including liaising well with services that would provide aftercare to people and effectively planning and managing discharge pathways.
Elizabeth Ughu, service manager at Bostall House said: “We are so proud of our CQC result, which reflects the hard work, dedication and continued commitment to raising standards and delivering outstanding care.
“We are really pleased that the report recognises the contribution that all staff make in delivering high standards of support and treatment. The individuals in our care and those that support us will continue to motivate us to do better and improve further on this fantastic result.”
Dr Tony Romero, chief executive of Cygnet Health Care, said: “It is brilliant to see the care of the team at Bostall House recognised by the CQC and in the feedback from people’s families and carers.
“We are proud of the commitment that the team brings to providing people-centred, empathetic and collaborative care, and empowering the people we support.
“I want to commend everyone at Bostall House for their rating, which is a reflection of their commitment to the people we support and to driving continual improvement.”
