Boy, 15, appears in court over killing of teenager in Croydon who was stabbed in the heart
Detectives have charged a teenager with the fatal stabbing of 15-year-old Zaian Aimable-Lina in Croydon.
The boy, 15, was arrested on suspicion of murder late on Saturday, January 1.
He was taken to a South London police station and charged on January 3. He appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday and has been remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey tomorrow, Thursday.
Zaian’s family have been informed.
Detectives launched a murder investigation after police were made aware of an assault in Ashburton Park, Croydon shortly after 7:00pm on Thursday, December 30.
Officers arrived at the scene and found Zaian who had been stabbed. Police provided first aid but he was pronounced dead at the scene at around 7:40pm.
His family are being supported by specialist officers.
On Friday, December 31, a different 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was taken to a south London police station and later released on bail to a date in late January.
A post-mortem examination was held on Saturday, January 1 and gave cause of death as a stab wound to the heart.
