Care home celebrates Roma’s 101st birthday
Carers and neighbours at Heathland Court Bupa Care Home in Wimbledon have come together to celebrate a resident’s 101st birthday.
Roma Tregilgas turned 101 on August 27 and enjoyed a party with fellow residents and carers.
Carers at the home decorated the lounge with balloons and bunting, played music and treated the birthday girl to a homemade cake.
To mark the special day, Roma received a Skype call from her family, followed by an afternoon tea party hosted by carers and attended by Roma’s friends from the home.
When asked about celebrating her special milestone, Roma said: “I am happy to have been able to celebrate such a special birthday with people here at Heathland Court. I’d like to say a big thank you to the staff for making it a memorable day for me.
“I liked all of the party, and the cake, the nice food and the flowers were lovely.
“The music and dancing was so much fun, but it was particularly lovely to see my niece over Skype and share the moment with her.”
When asked if she had any advice on living a long and happy life, Roma said: “I have always made the best of life.
“My whole life has been mostly fun, and I am incredibly devoted to my family.
“One of the biggest joys of my life has been surrounding myself with people who always make me feel like the best version of myself, so to live a happy life, I would recommend following this advice.”
Home Manager at Heathland Court Bupa Care Home, Arturas Repkovas, added: “We’re extremely pleased to have helped Roma celebrate her 101st birthday here at Heathland Court, and I’m honoured to have been a part of such an occasion.
“It was amazing to see the smile on her face when she came into the room and saw all the decorations.
“Roma has an incredible zest for life, and she’s a very valued member of the Heathland Court family, so we are all
delighted to have been able to provide her with the celebration she deserves.”
