Cops raid home and discover 500 cannabis plants in Southwark attic

Police found 250 cannabis plants in an attic after a raid sparked by a tip-off.

Cops  carried out the sting on the home in Southwark in the early hours of this morning.

Officers from the Central South Violence Suppression Unit, and some of Central South’s newest recruits, executed a warrant at a residential address in Southwark.

Inside the premises, officers found more than 250 plants of suspected cannabis hidden in the attic. These have now been sent for testing and destruction.

A man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of the cultivation of cannabis. He remains in custody.

Police Constable Luke Wenham, from the Central South Violence Suppression Unit, said: “This search warrant has ultimately prevented a large amount of what we believe to be class-B drugs from being peddled across Southwark and the surrounding areas.

“We know that drug supply is linked to much of the violence we see across the borough, which is why proactive operations which seek to disrupt the cultivation of drugs are paramount.

“Information from the public about criminality such as this is absolutely crucial, and I’d urge you to contact police if you have details about anyone involved in crime.
