Croydon care home colleague runs 50 miles for dementia

A care home employee has gone the extra mile for Dementia UK, by running 50 miles in November in a fund-raising effort.

Holly Osborne, Activity Co-ordinator at Red Court Bupa Care Home, Croydon, ran an impressive 50 miles around the Croydon area over a month-long period.

Her dedication to the cause saw her out running almost every day in November, raising £315 – exceeding her target of £150.

The kind donations from friends, family, colleagues and residents go a long way to support the vital care offered by specialist nurses to the families and individuals affected by dementia.

All funds raised also contribute to funding the much-needed helplines which provide one-to-one support for those living with, or caring for someone living with, dementia.

Holly said: “I’m not usually one to go jogging, so running 50 miles was a real challenge for me. Despite this, I am so proud to be able to say that I did it and managed to raise money for a cause that is so important. I would absolutely encourage people to get involved and sign up to do the run on the Dementia UK website.

“I want to say thank you to everyone who so generously donated to such a worthy cause – the support and well wishes encouraged me and pushed me to keep going when it got tough.”
