Five-and-a-half year jail term for hit-and-run driver

A woman has been jailed for five-and-a-half years for causing death by dangerous driving in South Norwood.

Loislane Annon, 34, of London Road, Croydon, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced at Croydon Crown Court on Friday. She was also banned from driving for eight years.

At around 7.30am on April 14, 2020, Annon’s black BMW collided with a pedestrian in Portland Road, Croydon. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the pedestrian, 38-year-old Vasile-Florin Olteanu, died at the scene.

Annon drove away from the scene prior to police arrival and abandoned the vehicle.

She was arrested and charged following an investigation by officers from the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command.
